Raloxifene increases the risk of deep vein thrombosis and may increase the risk of death from stroke among older women. Patients with bipolar disorder also appear to have altered circadian rhythmicity, and lithium may exert its therapeutic benefit through a resynchronization of intrinsic rhythms keyed to the light/dark cycle.
